A short stint in Christchurch saw her managing a call centre team for Spark NZ but after the devastating Earthquakes that hit the area in 2011, she made the decision to return home to Queenstown and throw herself into helping manage her dad’s new business, Limousine Services Queenstown (LSQ). There isn’t a role Anna hasn’t tried her hand at here at LSQ, from car grooming, reservations, HR, to driving (although there is a running joke if Anna is at the airport, all else has gone wrong). Anna is now an equal shareholder and managing director here at LSQ. Anna saw the team through covid while the borders were shut with character-building challenges and quickly adapting to keep the business operating on a shoestring. She is now so delighted to be managing the rapid recovery and growth since the borders reopened. Anna is extremely proud of the growth we have achieved at LSQ over the past 12 years. LSQ is easily the largest luxury transportation service in the South Island, with an impeccably presented, custom-built for comfort, late model fleet. Anna is proud of the diversity and commitment of both the drivers and the team behind the scenes, having gone from 5 drivers to now having 30 professional driver-guides including a number of women and a range of ages and backgrounds. Nowadays you’ll mainly find Anna in the office focusing on managing our fantastic team and growing the business in a sustainable way so we consistently provide the best service to our customers. With the incredible team that surrounds her it now, it allows her to work on the business rather than in it which is a big change, but a welcome one. When she’s not ticking off her to-do list at LSQ she can be found on her 5-acre block in Bannockburn with her husband, two young children, 2 dogs, 6 orphaned sheep and she sees a horse in her future, cue searching horse classifieds in her “spare” time (don’t tell her husband). New Zealand born and bred, he used to visit Queenstown as a child to ski. In 2002 he wandered into Otago while on a quick break from East Africa and never left. Leo and his family arrived in Queenstown 28 years ago when the town was still a small alpine village. Originally here on a short-term contract to facilitate a business acquisition, they never left. He spent most of his life in the business sector in several roles, including business ownership and business consulting. At the young age of retirement Leo joined Limousine Services Queenstown. This now occupies a big part of his life, and luckily it is something he says gives him great pleasure. Leo really enjoys the driving aspect of his work at LSQ and believes he has the best office view around, always changing and always spectacular. Greg shifted into management before retiring several years ago. He says he realised that he “couldn’t just stay home” and feels lucky he found LSQ. Greg loves to share stories about the history of the area, from farming to gold mining. His tours with clients include everything that you read about in the brochures: wineries, the Milford Sound and the West Coast. He might even show you around local neighbourhoods, to help you understand the real estate market and enjoy different views. Caring, polite, always thinking of clients’ needs, Greg particularly enjoys taking clients on local walks. His favourite drive? Originally from England, Chris moved to New Zealand in 1960 and has called Queenstown home for 20 years. The diversity of people he gets to meet and the places he gets to show them is what gets Chris out of bed in the morning. Te Wai Pounamu (South Island) is Chris’ favourite place, when asked to dial it in Chris decided Patea (Doubtful Sound) is a special place that people should put on their itinerary. Mount Cook is a highlight for Liam, listening to the Tasman glacier cracking and the odd avalanche in the distance are what spurs this outdoor enthusiast on. Ian’s career was in the New Zealand health sector, finishing in 2018 as the CEO of the Primary Health Organisation for Southland/Otago. He also enjoyed 6 years with DHL in London in the early 1980s, travelling to many countries during this time. Showcasing our ‘special’ southern region to clients is a real pleasure, especially Fiordland where Ian has fly-fished and hiked for decades. Ian provides a local conservationist perspective. Ian also has an enthusiast’s knowledge of local wines and foods. When Ian isn’t behind the wheel showcasing the beauty of our region, he is spending his time with his family. As an outdoor enthusiast fly-fishing, sea-kayaking, cycling, hiking and walking top his list of leisure activities. Paula also spent a full year as an exchange student in Germany when she was 16. Some would call her crazy, but we’d say just committed to the cold, 25 out of the 32 years Paula has been in Queenstown were spent doing back to back Winters between here and the Northern hemisphere. Paula loves to take guests to meet real kiwi locals working in our backyard doing what they love, so they can experience the New Zealand we know and love. A couple of her favourites are Laura Koot from Real Country, Lee van der Geest in her art studio and Simon Cox from Cox’s vineyard. The wild card aspect of being a driver guide is what gets Paula out of bed in the morning, turning up and not knowing what the day will bring, who she’s driving, who she might meet and where she might go. Paula is extremely passionate about preserving our forests and birds, food sustainability and teaching people to garden and grow their own food. As president of the local community gardens, Paula spends a lot of time with her hands in the dirt, coordinating weekly produce harvests to donate to local charities and liaising with the local Southern Lakes branch of the NZ Deerstalkers Association to provide venison to various charities. Volunteer work fills Paula’s cup outside of work, she is also a part time cook and on the committee for Abbyfield Wakatipu, a residential home that provides independent living for the elderly in our area. When time allows, Paula also volunteers with Baskets of Blessings. Living a busy schedule, Paula likes to decompress with a good hike, hitting the slopes in winter or spending time cooking up a storm in her kitchen. Originally from Chile, it was clear early on that he was a people person, he thrives on social interaction and enjoys traveling, so studying tourism fit the bill perfectly. In 2006 after graduating with a degree in Tourism, he departed Chile for Europe. He spent a couple of months based in Barcelona before making the move to Andorra, where he settled for 4 years until the travel bug bit him again. This time he was on the move to America, spending 6 months traveling around the States. 13 years on from arriving in New Zealand, he still loves it as much as the day he landed and absolutely relishes any opportunity to show our customers around this slice of paradise. She fell in love with the area and stayed! Mitch loves working with people and wants her clients to have the best possible experience they can while visiting New Zealand. She worked as a guide on the rivers and mountains around Queenstown for many years, introducing international guests to white water rafting, inflatable canoes, biking, hiking and camping. She was Camp Mum, cooking for up to 40 students from Singapore, making sure they all had the correct equipment and were ready for their multi-day hikes. Mitch also enjoys our local wine industry, and worked at a cellar door manager at Chard Farm winery. She loves a Pinot Noir, dry Riesling, dark beer and single malt whiskey. Mitch is a multi-day tour specialist and loves to host guests touring across the South Island. It’s the perfect job for her, sharing the natural beauty of our country, driving and of course talking! Among her favourite places are Milford, which is spectacular in any weather, and the wild and untamed West Coast. In her spare time, Mitch loves to get out into the hills, biking or hiking and spending time with family and friends. She is also passionate about basketball and rugby and has been president of the Queenstown Junior Basketball club for years. He comes with many a title so keep reading. He arrived in Queenstown in 1978 to pursue his passion as a heli-ski guide, which he continued for over 42 years. Scouting locations for the film industry for 30 years saw him traveling New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands. His travel log doesn’t stop there, he has traveled to 36 different countries over the years. Russell really enjoys meeting the clients and finding out about where they are from and what inspired them to travel here to NZ. He loves showing off some of the hidden gems we have to offer here in NZ. His favourite destination is Milford Sound because of the diverse landscape and interesting geological features, as well as the ever changing weather. Not only does Russell devote his time to our LSQ clients, he is also involved in community work, having spent 40 years as a Search & Rescue adviser to the Police, and was awarded the QSM (Queens Service Medal) for that service in 2003. He is also the Health & Safety Officer for the Emergency Response Group On Kelvin Peninsula. Now for his ‘spare’ time outside of work and supporting our community, he can be found fly fishing and spending time with his family. He built a career in local government specialising in finance, funding and corporate planning. In 1996, Graham and his wife Ann and son Mark purchased a property in Queenstown to use as a weekend getaway and holiday retreat. Early 2018 saw Graham and Ann retire to Queenstown permanently to enjoy the good life. Taking up a driver-guide position at LSQ reminded Graham of what a special place we call home here in the Wakatipu area. Building rapport with guests is something Graham loves to do, while sharing in their excitement and the enjoyment they get from trying new experiences and tasting the delicious morsels on offer in our region. Of all our great places Graham’s favourite destinations are Lakes Te Anau and Manapouri. It’s not only the destinations that draw Graham in, the journey to get there is full of wonderful lake and mountain views. We’ll let Graham explain the beauty that is to be discovered when you take this journey, he does a better job than us. “After leaving the lake at Kingston, there are noticeable changes in the geography while crossing the fertile alluvial Waimea Plains and over the red tussock conservation area at Centre Hill all the way surrounded by the mountains which give rise to the headwaters of the Mataura, Ōreti and Aparima rivers. Toward journeys end, the sight of the brooding mountains and bush clad edges of Fiordland National Park mark where the next adventure begins”. When Graham isn’t showing visitors the sights he enjoys a daily long black with Ann and friends at one of the many friendly cafes in Queenstown. After marrying in 1988, Jo and her husband Ferg moved to Queenstown with the intention of staying for a ski season before spreading their wings and heading off overseas to see the world. You guessed it, 35 years & two children later they are still here! Working predominantly in the Tourism sector, with stints at Queenstown Parkroyal (now Crowne Plaza), Blanket Bay and Matakauri Lodge. This has given Jo great local knowledge which is a great asset for us here at LSQ. Jo thoroughly enjoys meeting people and being able to show them around “our place”. Spoilt for choice with stunning destinations to share with our guests. Being a bit of a foodi, Jo is especially fond of some of the hidden gems in the wider Central Otago wine & food region – Bannockburn, Bendigo, Clyde & Cromwell. When Jo isn’t sharing her knowledge and love of our region with guests she loves to get outside and enjoy the fabulous hiking opportunities on our doorstep. You may also catch her pottering around in the garden with her hens. Jo was an inaugural member of Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand, a prestigious professional organisation for hotel concierges with a limited membership. Only concierges with extensive experience and a career commitment are considered by the society’s interviewing panel and must adhere to rigorous international requirements. When asked for a fun fact, Jo let slip that she was a ballet dancer in her youth and has been known to be a dedicated “dance mom” for her two daughters. While she admits she can’t quite manage a pirouette these days, she does enjoy attending a ballet performance when she gets the chance. Wayne made Queenstown home permanently in 2007 after years living between London and NZ. Wayne enjoys the banter that comes with being a driver-guide as well as imparting some local knowledge on to his clients. Living in such a special place, he believes his job makes him appreciate it even more. As well as studying and working in the wine industry for 7 years, Wayne is now also learning Portuguese. When Wayne isn’t sharing his wine knowledge with guests, he is sure to be drinking it with friends or improving his golf skills. When time allows he jets off to Europe to get that much needed cultural fix. Returning to New Zealand in 1974 Chris joined the Ministry of Transport in the Traffic Department. He spent 8 years as a Cop (policeman) on a motorbike before transferring to Queenstown in 1982 and spent 35 years as a Constable. Retiring in 2016, or so he thought! Chris started driving for LSQ on a part time basis, he can’t get enough of meeting new people and showing them around the magical South Island of New Zealand. When Chris isn’t spreading his wings and showing people the sights he is a busy grandad to 10 grandchildren, 7 currently in Queenstown and 3 more joining them in 2024. An avid member of our community, Chris is a member of the Victim Support Board, RSA Board, Poppy Trust, President of Greypower, a Justice of the Peace and Marriage Celebrant. After 32 years serving for the New Zealand Police he retired, or so he thought, until he took up a role as driver-guide for LSQ. Sharing his knowledge of the history of the area with our guests is Keith's specialty. As a keen gold panner in summer down in the Arrow River, he knows a thing or two about our rich gold history, although he’s told us his mining skills aren’t nearly as lucrative as his driving skills. When Keith isn’t attempting to find the next golden nugget or sharing his love of history with guests, he enjoys getting out fishing and camping in the district. Simon is an active member of our community and is currently in his second term as Councillor on the Queenstown District Lakes Council. We’re not finished yet, he also initiated ‘Heads Up 4 Kids’ a Lions initiative that provides a helping hand for young people to engage in an experience or activity that will enable them to live their dream, establish life goals and reach their full potential within their chosen field. To date they have raised $800,000. You’ll also find Simon heading the table as the NZ chairman for Abbeyfield Charity, providing affordable, supported living for older people. Being a driver guide is easy for Jane because it allows her to soak up all the magical places in our area with guests as she tells them all about where they are. Arriving from the UK as a backpacker in 1995 she fell in love with Queenstown (we totally get it!). After a 4 year stay, she returned home to the UK. But unbeknown to her New Zealand had captured her heart, so she made the permanent move back to NZ (her family found the positives, like free holidays to the adventure capital of New Zealand). Reservations and Management has always been a big part of Clare’s career, and she spent 30 years in the hotel industry before transferring into the transport industry. Alongside this Clare was also a part time dog groomer for 10 years. Clare’s top priority is providing great customer service. She takes pride in being able to sort out any issues that arise in a sensible, no-fuss way, but always with a joke and without fail accompanied by a smile.
